OMICRON: BOON OR BANE?

Is Omicron, the COVID-19 variant a boon or bane? The most unanswered threatening question that gets surrounded within everyone around the globe. Cases of Omicron, the new variant of COVID-19 are spiking over the world. With this increasing graph of casualties, Omicron is likely to replace the Delta variant. Experts suggest that even though the Omicron variant is causing less hospitalization, it shouldn’t be taken lightly. Omicron possesses a less fatality rate compared to other variants. This is still not a sign for people to be less vigilant.

Living with COVID and its other variants, there happens to have a conversation regarding whether the Omicron is a boon or bane. The World Health Organization has said that it is more infectious than the Delta variant. According to the available information, it is evident that it is mild and can be called a boon to an extent. But still it doesn't reduce the slap it had given to the business industries.

Even if the variant is mild, people with comorbidities have a greater risk of getting affected. This means if a patient with a weaker immunity is affected by the virus, it is capable of mutating itself into other different diseases.

Coming to the side of vaccination, the world has provided vaccination over 60% of the adult population with both doses and provides precautionary doses for less immunosuppressed and frontline health care workers.

Also from the aspect of the software society home became a new office and there observed a grand change in the working culture. Home office requires software assistance and that leads to a software boom. Sectors of education, health, business, food etc. everything tends to be activated within fingertips and that increases the employability of IT brains. To be precise, software development is one field that benefited from the pandemic. Though millions were thrown out of their jobs, skill based careers paved the way to growth.
